I have seen a lot of people who get their ACL surgery and thousands more who are connected with me through WhatsApp ACL Health program. They all take advice of diet and nutrition from time to time. ACL – You know that when ACL is reconstructed, it’s a surgery. However, there are no cuts and incisions involved. It’s a small laser operation. But still operation is an operation. Anti-biotic    2. Pain killers    3. B-Complex    4. Medicine for acidity. Patient should take all these medicines. Many patients stop the medicines on their own saying that they are not having any pain. Friends, if you do not take the pain killers and other medicines, the inflammation and swelling will increase and you might face difficulty in bending the knees. Let’s talk about food. Friends, a lot of patients coming from Bihar or West Bengal, say that there is a trend at our side not to allow eating rice or curd or eating fish is not allowed. So, they get troubled.

Friends, there is no need of having such food restrictions. You can eat anything without restrictions, especially the food having more of protein content should be eaten. What are the sources of high protein? If we talk about non-vegetarian food, you can eat Eggs, Chicken, and Fish. When I talk like this, vegetarian people get worried they get anxious that we are vegetarians. Don’t we have any source of protein? Or should we start eating eggs just because we have got ACL surgery done? Friends, nothing like that. There are lot of options of protein available for vegetarians. You can have soya beans, sprouted pulses, chickpeas, peas, soup. If you don’t want to eat…you are vegetarian…then I will repeat again. You can eat soya beans, sprouted pulses, different cereals, peas, paneer and this kind of milk, which are rich in protein.

Friends, people also ask me about food supplements that the gym trainer or physiotherapist has advised Whey Protein. Should we take? Friends, I am totally against such costly artificial supplements. Such supplements disturb the natural environment of our body. It may happen that after taking these, amount of Uric Acid in your body increases and new problems get started. And there are chances of weight gain with consumption of ghee and sugar. I feel that ghee and sugar should be avoided. Similarly, the non-veg soups available in market and the soup of bones can be unhygienic and can lead to infection in your stomach. Eat natural as much as possible and keep contact with your doctor and eat only home-made items. We should avoid the artificial food products available outside.
