Heel pain is a common problem nowadays. It is common in females. Heel pain is common in the morning time when the person wakes up from the bed and start walking a few steps. Sometime when a person sits for long hours on a chair and then walks he or she feels pain too. These few steps are so painful that the patient almost starts limping. In medical language, this problem is called plantar fasciitis.

what causes heel pain or back of heel pain in the morning?

The most common question is why this all starts. A most common reason is Thyroid or Diabetes problem. Females who work for long hours standing also have heel pain. Sometimes a bad shoe or footwear can also cause this. Doing exercises on a hard surface, dancing or running on a hard surface can also cause this. If you are overweight than also you can have heel pain.

When you visit your doctor he may ask you to get x rays of the heel bone. Sometimes there is a sharp bone there which can also cause heel pain. The uric acid level is also a common cause. So you need to check your uric acid level also. If it is above 6 than uric acid needs to be lower down.

how to treat heel pain or get heel pain relief ??

The most common method to treat heel pain is silicone heels. These are to be worn in slippers or shoes during standing. It provides a cushion to heel and decreases pain. Calf starching exercises or heel pain exercises are also helpful. It can be done by standing on the toe for ten seconds. It should be done 50 to 100 times daily. You can take the support of table or slab. Ankle up-down movement can be done on bed.

The doctor also advised you to take pain killers. If you keep your foot in gentle warm water for 20 minutes Morning and evening.

what if exercises are not working?

If these things do not work then steroid injection in the heel can also be used. Usually injection work for 5 to 7 months. After injection icing is done for 3 days. Usually, injection starts working in 3 days. The injection can be repeated after 6 months.

If your pain is so bad that injection is also not working than endoscopic plantar fascia release can be done. It is a small surgery done with the help of a camera. Results are good.
